Iowa man charged with shoplifting at bookstore

Suspect arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, apprehended after attempting to flee on foot.

An Iowa man was arrested at the Hamline bookstore on March 3 on suspicion of shoplifting. According to the Safety and Security report, he was apprehended by St. Paul Police at Minnehaha Avenue and Asbury Street after fleeing the scene on foot.

Students, staff affected by quake

Spanish professor Sandra Herrera, visiting professor from Chile, learned shortly after the quake that shook Chile on Feb. 27 that her family was unharmed, while two Hamline students were delayed on their study abroad trip to Chile. Caitlin Klann Junior Caitlin Klann was supposed to leave for Valparaíso, Chile last Friday but her flight was delayed due to the earthquake.

Board reveals little about meeting

Hamline's most powerful governing force met for their annual retreat in Chaska on Feb. 26-27, but did report much from the meeting. According to Board of Trustees chair Robb Prince, the group discussed the university center, enrollment data and projections, the compensation task force and the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Political prisoner emphasizes importance of dissent and resistance

?Former Black Panther Dhoruba Bin Wahad says he is an unapologetic political radical. When he spoke at Hamline last Tuesday, he was firm that change cannot come from within the system. Instead, he argued, it must come from political dissidents on the outside.
