The No. 8 Knights played stingy defense and allowed only two shots in the shutout.
It was the second time in two games that the Pipers have been shut out. The Pipers have now lost four games in a row and are still struggling to establish an offense.
The Knights' only goal came at 35:20 into the game by Wes Elfman off a pass from Paul Pedtke.
Junior forward Drew Lukas continues to provide a positive impact offensively for the struggling Pipers.
He is the team's leading scorer with seven goals on the season. Lukas is still a candidate for MIAC Player of the Year, although Hamline will not make the conference playoffs.
Hamline moved to 3-9-2 and 1-6-2 in MIAC play, while Carleton improved 13-1-1 and 7-1-1 in the MIAC.
The Knights clinched a playoff spot with the win, and will most likely be the number-one seed come tournament time.
The Pipers travel to St. Olaf on Saturday for their last MIAC game, as they look to spoil any Ole playoff hopes.
The Pipers then have their final game on Halloween against Central College.
