Letter to the editor: Hamline students ask for support of gubernatorial debate on campus
Issue date: 3/9/10 Section: Opinion
Dear Editor,
Hamline students from various organizations have formed a non-partisan steering committee to organize a forum for Minnesota's gubernatorial candidates. Youth voters (ages 18-24) make up 30 percent of the voting population in Minnesota.
We can sway an entire election, and we need to let candidates know that we're paying attention to the debate. We are still in the early stages of organization and are looking for other students who would like to participate in the planning process, as well as student organizations to co-sponsor the event.
All of the major candidates have been invited to the event, which will take place on April 15. We will be placing boxes around campus for students to submit questions in various categories to be voted on and asked at the event. For more information on how to get involved, contact Natalie at ntungsvik01@hamlineuniversity.edu.
Sincerely,
Natalie Tungsvik and Antonia Kurtz, MPIRGSarah Jane Johnston, College Democrats, FMLA, WRC Dan Erdle, HUSC, College Republicans
Zachary Psick, IVCF
